A PILOT ARTS RESIDENCY/EXHIBITION AT YAGAN MIA - WIRELESS HILL
Sunday 5 September 2021 to Sunday 10 October 2021
Magnification through science using Biomimicry principles, applications and Taxonomy; Inter related Communications and transformative times during COVID 2020. Utilising organic materials similar to those found onsite, Nidia is creating biomorphic shapes that are undergoing slow metamorphosis as they age, referencing the constant state of transition within this unique biodiversity hotspot at Yagan Mia/Wireless Hill. Also, large suspended textiles form the visual identity of the exhibition.
Wireless Hill is synonymous with both the transmission of communication and natural biodiversity, with a history that spans many thousands of years before its time in the 20th century as a wireless station. Workshops, botany walks & science and biology talks are planned during the residency.
The exhibition is part of IOTA21 - Indian Ocean Craft Triennial.
