Artist Statement

Nidia is a multidisciplinary Colombian-born contemporary Australian visual artist exploring the intersections of bio-mimicry, nature, materiality, and digital innovation. Her artistic journey has evolved from traditional painting and fibre sculpture to immersive and augmented reality (AR) experiences, reflecting her deep interest in integrating technology with nature-inspired themes. With study background in arts, art event management, and design, she has exhibited widely, with works in private and public collections.

She recognizes the growing impact of A.I. and new digital immersive tools on the arts, so she pursued further tertiary education in 2024 in Immersive Technology, AI, and 3D Automation with South Metropolitan TAFE, completing core units in 3D modelling, Animation, Visual effects, Augmented Reality, Video and Multimedia content creation. This technical training, combined with her artistic and art curatorial experience, has placed her at the intersection of visual art and technology, where she is developing new creative and interactive, multi-sensory works that engage audiences in new ways.

Her current developing artworks and projects incorporate Augmented Reality layers, digital effects, digital illustration and digital storytelling into her artistic practice, bridging physical and virtual experiences between bio-mimicry, nature, materiality and bio-energetics.

This transformation represents her commitment to embracing emerging technologies and pushing creative boundaries with nature and fine arts.

Nidia’s professional and training background include Marketing, Small Business Management, Arts and Crafts, Art Events Management, Horticulture and Immersive Arts.
